T

he American Cancer Society hosted its 18th annual Cattle Barons’ Ball
on Friday, August 24, at the Pensacola Bay Center. This wild, wild
west themed event had an exciting night of live and silent auctions,
wonderful food, a chicken drop, and entertainment from SIXWIRE,

which are known for their performance on the show “Nashville.” Cattle Barons’
Ball was honored to have back this year Escambia County Sherriff’s Mounted
Posse Unit and also presented members of Real Men Wear Pink Campaign as their
honorary chairs for 2018.

Special guest speaker, Angela Lane, is a two-year breast cancer survivor. Angela

and her family call our community home and she is very involved with originations
such as, Making Strides against Breast Cancer and Impact 100. Her daughter
Cali says, “The most inspiring part of this is seeing how my mom inspires others
around her but her impact has hit me and has inspired me to go out and try to help
and be there for others.”

This event raises money to fi nd cures and to fi ght back against cancer. The

American Cancer Society is the largest private non-profi t funder of cancer research
and is making a difference everyday. For information on next year’s event visit
