“When we had our soft opening for Play n Stay, I was standing
there wondering if we’d made the right decision,” Sprayberry said.
“We’d invested a lot of money, and there was so much on the line.
Just then a Frisbee fl ew over my head and a group of dogs rushed past
me, happily chasing it. I thought, ‘You know, this just might work
out.’”
Play n Stay has been an unqualifi ed success, but it still experiences
a problem that plagues every pet boarding center—although Play n
Stay handles the issue better than just about anyone.
“The owners are usually way more nervous than the pets,” Risner
said. “Over time we build trust with owners, but it’s still hard to leave
your baby behind. We try to give them peace-of-mind by regularly
posting photos of their pets to Facebook, so they can see the animals
are outside playing and having fun, not locked up in a cage.”
While there’s no way to alleviate owner nervousness completely,
peace-of-mind is perhaps Play n Stay’s greatest strength.
“My offi ce is right next door,” Sprayberry said. “In the unlikely
event your pet gets sick or injured, I can usually see them right away
and make sure they get better. You don’t have to rush over and take
your pet to another facility.”
Group play is a major component of Play n Stay, but if your animal
doesn’t exactly play well with others, Sprayberry says not to worry.
“If your furry friend is a bit of a loner, we can take him outside by
himself and the staff will give him one-on-one attention,” Sprayberry
said.
Play n Stay offers 46 rooms for boarding and another 30 for
daycare, two private ‘Presidential Suites,’ multiple fenced-in outdoor
play areas, an indoor play area for daycare pets, and bath and ear
cleaning services, all at competitive prices. Many of the larger suites
have windows, and owners can request a room with a view at no
additional cost. Dogs and cats are both welcome, although cats are
housed separately inside the vet offi ce.
Pets and humans alike also enjoy taking advantage of the 2.5-acre
wooded area surrounding the facility, which is owned by Sprayberry.
No services are provided on these grounds, but many owners like to
walk their dogs around the fenced-in property before drop-offs and
after pick-ups.
If your dogs or cats are bored with traditional boarding, why
not give Play n Stay a try? You’ll get the comfort of knowing your
furbabies are safe and having fun, and, just like Buster, your pets are
sure to love the fi ve-star facilities and caring staff—even if they are a
little anxious the fi rst time.
