eville Quarter participated in the annual Pensacola Open Street Ciclovia event by hosting
a Crawfi sh Boil in the End O’ the Alley Courtyard.  On Saturday, March 23, guests were
invited to continue to celebrate Ciclovia and enjoy great music and Cajun Crawfi sh.  The
Crawfi sh Boil became the offi cial after party, starting at 1pm and was open to the public.

Ciclovias are international events that originated in Columbia in the 1970s. Now, Ciclovia events

take place in dozens of countries across the United States. Ciclovia is a FREE annual event open
to everyone. Mayor Ashton Hayward publicly invited Pensacola citizens to enjoy and visit our
city streets. Many activities were encouraged, including biking, walking, jogging, skateboarding,
and just getting up and moving. A kid’s area was also available to enjoy at Plaza de Luna. This was
Pensacola’s 2nd Annual Ciclovia Open Streets event, and the city joined a long list of progressive
cities from Bangalore, India to Bogota, Columbia that have already had Open Streets events. The
streets were closed to motor traffi c and open for a safe play of all kinds, from Garden Street to the
Palafox Pier and from Gulf Power to the Maritime Park. Many local businesses had display tables
set up in various locations, including Bartram Park, Palafox and Zarragoza, Plaza De Luna, and
Main streets.
