T
he Krewe of Brewe of Pensacola Beach held their Mardi Gras Black Tie Ball
on February 2, at Capt’n Fun’s Nightclub, Bar and Grille. The Krewe of
Brewe has been in operation for over 30 years and is a co-ed krewe of about
20 members. They are also a spin-off of one of the first original Mardi Gras
beach krewes. The charity the Krewe chose to support this year is “Building Homes for
Heroes,” which is a very special program that helps local servicemen and women find
homes that fit their needs and unique disabilities. The Black-Tie Ball was open to the
public, and encouraged guests to come and dress up with class.
The Krewe of Brewe of Pensacola Beach elects their Queen a little differently than the
other krewes, and nominates a woman who is not in the krewe. By announcing someone
who has the right character, attitude, and personality to represent the krewe for the
upcoming year, it offers a new perspective into what the spirit of this krewe is.
