C
ordova Mall, the Sacred Heart Foundation, and the Studer Family Children’s
Hospital kicked off the 2019 Mardi Gras season with the 24th Annual Mall
Ball on January 26, sponsored by Sandy Sansing. Over 300 volunteers and
24 restaurants donated their time, services, and products to participate in
the evening’s festivities. Over 2,500 tickets were sold, and the committee has already
begun preparation for the 25th anniversary celebration event next year. Wes Reeder said,
“I’ve been attending this event for several years, and I have to say, the community really
stepped it up. I feel like this has been the biggest and best year yet. Not to mention, it’s
for a great cause.” Carol Carlan included, “This event is so diverse. What I love about it
most is how everyone comes together to support such a wonderful cause, and it brings me
so much joy.”
Proceeds from the event go towards helping the Studer Family Children’s Hospital
purchase a new life-saving, life-changing Pediatric CT Scanner. Only eleven are stationed
throughout the U.S., and it is one of the fastest scanners in the world, capable of scanning
a child in less than two seconds. This enhances patient safety and reduces the need for
sedation. The new equipment will be shown at the grand opening of the Studer Family
Children’s Hospital in April.
