O
n Saturday, February 18, the Krewe du YaYas held their 4th annual I Pink I Can
Run/Walk event at Flora-Bama Lounge in Perdido Key. Proceeds from the run
go to the Keeping Abreast Foundation which provides mammograms, in-home
assistance and other necessary services to those who can’t otherwise afford them.
This year there were 525 registered participants, even with the predictions of rain and
ominous weather. It was an amazing turnout and it was great to see so many survivors and
supporters come out for this great event. This year’s race winners were: 1st Place: Ben Jones,
2nd Place: Evan Malone, and 3rd Place: Bob Walker. After the race the participants enjoyed a
wonderful lunch and the awards presentation. Even the weather held off and it was a lovely day
for a run.
The mission of the Krewe du YaYas is to inspire hope and enhance life to those affected by
breast cancer through early detection, advocacy, education and support services. For more
