very homeowner should feel like the king—or queen—

of the castle; and with no need to allocate space to

children, Kelly and Joe Campbell let their desire to

create a home where they truly felt a sense of dominion guide

them through the planning of their house in Nature Trail

Preserve. With its Craftsman-inspired exterior, the 3300 square

foot home hardly screams over-the-top splendor, showing

modesty rather than extravagance amidst the lush greenery

that surrounds it. But luxury need not be gilded in gold, as the

house’s interior readily shows, with its blend of stonework,

brick detailing, and millwork. Such are the hallmarks of

the Craftsman style, and that was the vision at work for the

Campbells in each space of their home—interspersed, of

course, with just a few details that are truly crowning glories.

Such details are certainly at play in the master suite, a space

that claims an entire wing of the house to create a sprawling

sanctuary replete with a reading nook, an expansive bath, and

access directly out onto the back porch, all mere steps off a

bedroom flooded by the light of a multitude of windows. Not

to be overlooked, the Campbell’s walk-in closet commands

attention of its own, for just behind the rustic charm of a

handcrafted reclaimed barn wood door lays a capacious interior

lit by the dazzling glow of a chandelier. “It’s one of my favorite

things about the house,” Kelly admits with a smile.
