B
ig Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida hosted The Big Scoop on the
sunny day of May 18, at the Community Maritime Park to celebrate their 30th
anniversary of service. The Big Scoop offered attendees an assortment of ice
cream flavors with the best fixins’ and topping choices, as well as other sweet
snacks.
The Pensacola Blue Wahoos helped to make this year’s Big Scoop the official pre-party
before they took on the Mobile Bay Bears. At the game that evening, a set of Pensacola’s
own Big and Little teams threw out the first pitch, and a group of Littles sang the
National Anthem. Tickets for a 50/50 chance to win were available, and an incredible
fireworks show was presented as the finale.
The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters is to provide children facing adversity with
strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their
lives for the better, forever. Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Northwest Florida has been
the area’s leader in one-to-one youth services for more than 20 years. They match caring,
adult mentors with children ages 6 through 18 who come primarily from single-parent
homes. The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida serves Escambia, Santa Rosa,
Okaloosa, Walton, and Bay Counties.
