T

he Children’s Home Society of Florida hosted their 14th annual Soundside Splendor event at Portofino
Island Resort on May 5. Honorary Chair Rob Babcock, in loving memory of Sabine Laguna, invited
guests to experience wonderful and creative dishes from the top chefs in the area, and enjoy an afternoon
of fabulous food, wine, music, and fun. Soundside Splendor has become one of the Gulf Coast’s most

anticipated annual dining and entertainment events. All proceeds benefit Children’s Home Society of Northwest
Florida programs that serve the most vulnerable children, teens and families. In addition to food and wine, guests
were able to enjoy live entertainment, and given the chance to bid on dozens of luxury items in the live and silent
auctions.

Delicious samples of fine dining and cuisine were available from top local chefs including: Jim Shirley from The

Fish House and The Bay, Gus Silivos from Skopelos, Dan Dunn from Big Top Brewery, Steven Wu from Shan Kishi,
Gregg McCarthy from The Grand Marlin, Julio Lucero from Portofino Island Resort, David Penniman from Classic
City Catering, Tony Countryman from East Hill Market, Dennis Moore from Flounder’s Chowder House, and Blake
Rushing from Union Public House.
