eterans. The word conjures up

images of soldiers coming home

to their families from war while

American flags proudly wave in the

wind. In today’s society female veterans are

often a forgotten segment of these heroes.

According to the National Center for

Veterans Analysis and Statistics, there are

approximately 2 million female veterans in

the United States and Puerto Rico. Women

veterans are nearly three times as likely

to be homeless as non-veteran women.

As a female veteran herself, CEO and

Founder of HER, Nancy Bullock-Prevot

was prompted by this astonishing statistic

to establish the HER (Honor Empower

Rebuild) Foundation in August of 2016.

“People forget that women served just like

their male counterparts and fall on their

luck the same way. At the HER Foundation

we will be here to help women veterans that

are struggling with a variety of obstacles

that led them to homelessness,” describes

Nancy.

The HER Foundation steps in to provide

affordable housing and other services that

assist our women veterans in establishing

successful futures. This incredible 501

(c)(3) non-profit organization provides

lodging, meals, access to medical, dental,

counseling, job placement and other social

services as needed during these difficult

transitions. No woman veteran should be

homeless. Nancy says, “Our home will

cater to single women veterans. The federal

government has established many programs

that assist married women veterans with

children. However, many single female

veterans fall short of that assistance offered

by the government. Society assumes that

family support is available which is not

the case.” HER is here to provide shelter,

a “Faith House” for our homeless women

veterans. The cause is deeply rooted for

Nancy. As a mother she wants to raise her

daughter to understand the significance of

this cause. “The most rewarding part of my

job is hearing my 10 year old daughter tell

me that she is proud of me. To illustrate

the importance to care our fellow men

and women is important. That makes our

country GREAT,” she explains. HER

works towards recapturing our sisters

independence and provide a helping

hand, love, and hope to other sisters in

arms. They constantly strive to HONOR.

EMPOWER. REBUILD.
