T

he Mint Jubilee was a fun evening of all things southern. Taking place at
The Barkley House, it was a pre-Kentucky Derby party. There was a special
guest in attendance, Ms. Carol Grabaukas, who is the Deputy Director of
the Offi ce of International Visitors at the U.S. Department of State.

The wonderful bluegrass band, the Wayfarers, set the mood for what turned into a

night of tasty southern foods and fun games. Everyone mingled and had drinks before
dinner was served. Chef Blake Rushing prepared the food that was served buffet style
which was delicious. The program following dinner was a presentation of awards by the
Gulf Coast Citizen Diplomacy Council and an introduction to the Council. Then the real
fun began. There was a hat promenade showing off all the lovely hats that the ladies were
wearing and the Gentleman’s contest added to the fun as well.  There was also a wine pull
and a silent auction.
