W
eddings are one of the most memorable
times in a person’s life, and creating a
great memory is largely dependent on
a number of factors…not the least of
which is the entertainment during the reception. More
than anything else, it seems, the reception is what
leaves the greatest impression on guests, and having a
DJ or entertainer who truly makes the reception a fun
event is one of the best ways to have a wedding day
that you’ll be talking about for years to come—in the
very best ways, of course.
Think about it—DJs and entertainers keep things
lively and get your guests moving out on the dance
floor. They also give you the chance to really add some
flair to your reception. Love the sounds of smooth jazz
or getting funky with disco? Queue up the playlist to
show off your proclivity to those special tunes or give
your guests a peek into some of the music that tells
your story as a couple. Music moves the spirit and the
heart, and your wedding day is the perfect time to play
it loud and play it proud.
Naturally, there are songs that will never go out of
style, those timeless ditties that have seen the years
come and go but still remain favorite standbys. “‘My
Girl’ is a song that always seems to be a favorite for
weddings or during almost any other special event,”
says Reggie Reed, whose years with the Nate Evans
Temptations Revue in Las Vegas led him to start up his
own Temptations Revue group after he located to the
Emerald Coast. “Really, all of the Temptations’ songs
and Motown classics are popular, and they’re a great
way to get everyone up and dancing.”
A performer whose love of entertaining runs deep in
his blood, Reed grew up in a household where musicians
and entertainers were a part of his daily life, with a
mother in the industry whose own passion and talent
inspired him to follow that path, as well. “It was natural
for me, and it’s something I love doing,” he says.
And sharing that love by bringing it to an event is one
of the greatest joys Reed takes in his work. “A wedding
is the most important day in someone’s life, and to be a
part of that wonderful occasion reminds you of the joy
that love brings,” notes Reed.
There are, of course, a few things to keep in mind
when you’re considering entertainment for your
reception. “Ask around about people’s experiences
with entertainers in the area,” Reed advises. “Word
of mouth is best, because people will be honest about
how their own event went and how their entertainer
or DJ conducted themselves and their level of
professionalism.”
Your vision for the day is top priority, so make sure
that’s kept at the top of the playlist for anyone you book.
If you do, you’ll have plenty of reason to dance, and your
guests will be steppin’ right along with you.
