O
n the bright and sunny morning of December 17, the Manna Food Bank hosted
their Open House and Ribbon Cutting at their brand-new location on 3030 North
E Street. The Greater Pensacola Chamber Ambassadors held the offi cial Ribbon
Cutting, which honored The Bear Family’s contribution to the food pantry. Their
generous gift allowed the facility to restart and rebuild after the devastation that the previous
facility was met with after the fl ood in 2015.
The sign which reads “Manna Bear Family Foundation Center for Hope,” proudly conveys
what the local non-profi t organization is dedicated to providing to the community. The
23,000 square-foot warehouse allows Manna to operate and serve both Escambia and Santa
Rosa Counties in a more effi cient, personal and compassionate way. The improvements to
the building created a separate counseling space to create customized assistance. Manna is
committed to connecting families in need to the resources provided here locally, like the SNAP
program. Clients are given a care package based on a fi ve-day supply for each member of the
family, and varying from four different types of protein. Manna also has a Healthy Senior
program at Westminster Village that provides food boxes to area assisted living clients living on
a fi xed income who qualify, diabetic boxes, as well as pet and baby packages. Manna participates
in several programs including Tummy Bundles, Backpacks 4 Teens, and Ministry Village at
Olive. Manna partners with Gulf Coast Kid’s House, Santa Rosa Kid’s House, and Lutheran
Services Florida to provide food to the individuals and families they serve.
