n the cool and sunny day of
October 27, the 17th annual
Breast Cancer Awareness Walk
was hosted by Making Strides

Against Breast Cancer of Pensacola. Historic
Seville Square was overfl owing with survivors,
supporters, and fundraising teams gathered
to “Walk for a Cure,” many of whom were
decked out in their favorite shade of pink, and
coordinating team outfi ts. This year’s walk
was held in a brand-new location, starting at
Seville Square; taking a direct route through
some of Pensacola’s most iconic streets,
Veteran’s Memorial Park, and Bartram Park.
Registration was required to participate,
but admission was free.  A special area was

provided for survivors and the caregivers
attending with them. The organization
included both survivors and caregivers to make
sure everyone is as comfortable as possible.

The American Cancer Society Making

Strides Against Breast Cancer Walks raise
awareness and funds to save lives from breast
cancer. Each event is a noncompetitive three
to fi ve-mile walk that brings people together to
make a difference for everyone who has been
touched by breast cancer. The events raise
money to fund innovative research, provide
free information and support, and to help
people reduce their breast cancer risk, or fi nd it
early when it’s most treatable.
