T

he Pensacola Humane Society, along with Two Men and a
Truck, presented Pensacola’s favorite annual pet friendly
festival, Barktoberfest; at Community Maritime Park on
October 27. Fall was in the air, while canine lovers gathered

to enjoy a day of puppy love with their furry friends. Local businesses,
animal service organizations, and area vendors had booths available to
visit for treats, giveaways, and free helpful information pamphlets. The
Pensacola Humane Society had puppies available for adoption for a low
fee, that came spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all
vaccines.

Costume contests were held at 11am and 2pm. An agility display

was available to enjoy, as well as Dachshund and small dog races. A
silent auction and prize drawings were held in the amphitheater area
for a chance to bid on jewelry from Jarrod’s, a weekend at Villas on the
Beach, gift baskets from Everything’s Irie, Beverly Barkway Thrift Store,
tickets to Pensacola Ballet, and Pensacola Opera. Prize baskets for ticket
drawings from PNJ, Pensacola Humane Society, Pet Supermarket, and
UWF were also a big hit.

Limited Barktoberfest tee shirts were available for purchase at the

Pensacola Humane Society area. The event serves as the primary
fundraiser of the year for the Pensacola Humane Society. It also serves as
an opportunity for the other animal welfare organizations to raise funds.
