T

he Pensacola Blue Wahoo’s Stadium was home to the 6th Annual Pensacola
Eggfest, which was held on Sunday, November 11. The Veteran’s Day
festivities were filled with about eighty cook teams that competed for the
highly coveted trophies and bragging rights. Each food entry was prepared

on Big Green Eggs, which are ceramic kamado-style charcoal grills. The top ten teams
were called to the Hancock Club (upstairs at the Stadium), and given a time to present
their dish to the judges, explain their passion, and breakdown the recipe. Three top
Judges Choices were awarded, as well as the top three People’s Choices, and one team
was chosen that represented the Spirit of EggFest as a whole.

Pensacola Eggfest has given over $200,000 to local nonprofi t organizations since 2013. This

year, the primary charity is Rally Pensacola, a foundation that provides fi nancial assistance to
families who have a child that is battling cancer.

Co-chairs Buck Hall, Lisa Long, and Doug Jolly have worked hard to develop what is now

known as one of Pensacola’s most popular annual events. Big Moe Cason, and columnist and
novelist Sean Dietrich were this year’s special guests. Cason is one of America’s most popular
BBQ pitmasters, and has been a staple at the event for a number of years now. In addition to
Rally Pensacola, proceeds from this year’s event will also benefi t Manna Food Pantry, Sacred
Heart’s “Sacred Paws” service dog program, and the Studer Community Institute.
