T

he Escambia County Healthy Start Coalition hosted the
3rd annual wine dinner fundraiser, Bow Ties and Tiaras, on
June 21 at Skopelos at New World. Guests enjoyed a one-
of-a-kind four-course menu specially prepared by Chef Gus

Silivos, which was paired with select wines from BreakThru Beverage.
Proceeds from the annual event benefi ted Healthy Start programs and
initiatives to improve birth and developmental outcomes for women and
infants in Escambia County.

The Healthy Start programs are in place to help mothers in need due

to low fi nancial status, drug addictions, and mental health issues. The
Coalition depends on the support of non-profi t foundations, fundraisers,

and the community. Barry Cole, owner of Beré Jewelers, and his wife
Laura hand selected three unique pieces from Forevermark, John Hardy,
and Gabriel and Co., which were raffl ed off at the end of the fi nal course.
The Cole’s chose each brand due to their company standards and the
way they respond to their female employees and their families.

The Escambia County Healthy Start Coalition is one of 32 non-

profi t organizations across Florida dedicated to improving the health of
pregnant women and babies. The Coalition relies on local community
input to plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive system of care
for pregnant women and children, up to age three, who might be at risk
for a poor pregnancy or birth outcome.
