Florida Heart Ball. On March 9, the American Heart Association held the

entertainment, a cocktail reception and silent auction, dinner, and the “Open your

Heart” donation ceremony.

Allen Strum introduced Dr. William Blanchard, Chief Medical Offi cer and Honoree. Tina

Tortomase and Stephen Simpson are current chair members for the Northwest Florida Heart
Ball, and Cor Vitae sponsors included Teri Levin, Ray and Val Russenberger, and Brian and
Crystal Spencer.

The American Heart Association is the nation’s oldest and largest voluntary health

organization. Its purpose is to help prevent America’s No. 1 and No. 4 killers, heart disease and
stroke. The AHA is an advocate of good health, promoting positive behaviors, nutritious eating
habits and healthy lifestyles. It also funds cutting-edge research and professional education
programs.

By providing science-based treatment guidelines to healthcare professionals, the American

Heart Association works to ensure the best treatment for every patient, every time. Some
examples of the American Heart Association’s work are helping people in the community
understand the importance of healthy lifestyle choices, providing CPR education training, and
educating lawmakers, policy makers and the public to advocate for changes that will protect and
improve the health of our communities.
