urb appeal. No house

is complete without it.

When you’re looking

for a home to purchase

or rent, you drive through the

neighborhood and your excitement

builds. When you pull up to what

you’ve envisioned as the house

of your dreams it doesn’t matter

what the interior looks like yet. If

the exterior doesn’t match what

you expected, your whole image is

ruined. This is where landscaping

comes into play. Christina Talbert,

owner of Graceful Ground and

Garden understands the importance

of curb appeal and what it takes to

put your best foot, or yard, forward.

“I have always been fond of the

world of gardening, said Christina,

“I can remember my first “project”

from when I was seven years old.

It involved rearranging my entire

backyard, to my mom’s surprise,

and creating a tiny courtyard.”

Her love for creating beauty out

of nature was then established.

“Since then, gardening has been

a lifelong passion, but only when

I could spare the time away from

my two careers in dental hygiene

and raising my four children. As

my children grew older and time

became more available, I decided

to follow my dreams,” described

Christina.

Two years ago she made her

dream into a reality with the

opening of her own landscaping

company, Graceful Ground and

Garden. Christina has deep roots

in Louisiana and incorporates

“New Orleans style” plants into

many of her designs. Landscaping

differs vastly from state to state

and changes whether you are

inland or on the coast. There are

sandy soils and high temperatures

here in the sunshine state, which

limits what plants can be selected

and where they are positioned.

Every landscape artist has their

own unique style but the best

designers know the importance

of always putting the customer’s

vision and interests first and

to bring to life their idea of a

perfect space. Graceful Ground

and Garden loves combining

structural plants with seasonal

embellishments, such as

agapanthuses in the spring and

pansies in the fall. Every artist has a

“signature look”. “If I could choose

one thing I love to see in a garden

it would have to be live oak trees,”

said Christina.

A home is a reflection of who you

are and the outside of a home is the

first thing the world sees. Christina

realizes this, “When I see a house

the very first, and sometimes only

thing I see is the landscaping.

I take this into consideration

everyday that I work,” she said, “I

would rather live in a shack with

a beautiful garden than a mansion

with weeds and overgrowth.”

Christina knows how lucky she

is to be living out her dream

stating, “My goal with Graceful

Ground and Garden is to create a

beautiful space for each client to

enjoy. From box planters to a total

reconstruction, no job is too big

and no job is too small. I wake up

everyday knowing I am blessed by

God to be doing what I love, and

that’s something not a lot of people

can say.”
