n Sunday, August 5, WSRE
and PBS KIDS hosted
their Hit a Home Run for
Early Learning event inside

the WSRE Imagination Station at the
Community Maritime Park and the Pensacola Wahoos
Stadium. Families and friends were invited to meet
Clifford the Big Red Dog, have a quick photo taken, and receive a free
children’s book to take home.  Jill Hubbs, director of WSRE Educational
Content and Services thought this was a perfect opportunity to, “Bring
in every kid’s favorite, larger-than-life, four-legged friend, Clifford,
and share early childhood education resources with parents during the
event.” The Hit a Home Run for Early Learning event transitioned into
‘Bark in the Park’ night, hosted by Camp Bow Bow and the Pensacola
Human Society. Wahoos fans were able to bring their canine pals to
enjoy the game. Clifford also entered the stadium in time for a pre-game

“Fun Run for Reading” lap around
the bases and threw the ceremonial
fi rst pitch during the Pensacola Blue
Wahoos game against the Montgomery
Biscuits.

The WSRE Imagination Station is a free early

learning activity center for parents to engage with

their children in hands-on activities using PBS KIDS educational
resources, including computer games, books, and toys. Regular hours
are 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Saturday and during Pensacola
Blue Wahoos home games, opening an hour before the fi rst pitch. Camp
Bow Wow Pensacola offers premier doggy day care and boarding where
pups play all day with furry friends, then snooze the night away in a
comfy Cabin, while cared for by highly-trained and loving staff. Video
surveillance apps are also available by request when boarding pets for
extended stays.
