eville Quarter
was fi lled with
delicious smells,
sweets and crab

cake treats during Arc
Gateway’s annual Crab Cake Cook-Off on
Wednesday, July 25. This year, the Cook-
Off was presented by Kids’ Dentist Dr. Stu
Bonnin. Guests were invited to enjoy live
music, a silent auction, an artwork sale, and
all-you- can- eat crab cakes. Restaurants,
chefs, and organizations participated to
showcase their best crab cake recipe. Twenty
teams competed for the bragging rights of the
tastiest crab cakes around. First, second, and
third place prizes were awarded by a panel of
blind judges in the Judge’s Choice category,
and by diners in the People’s Choice category.

Proceeds from the annual fundraiser went to

support The Arc Gateway,
Inc., a Pensacola non-
profi t that serves more
than 850 children and
adults with intellectual and

developmental disabilities. Programs range
from early intervention services, pediatric
therapy, and childcare to retirement programs
for senior citizens. Day programs include
basic academic classes and work opportunities
at The Arc Gateway and throughout the
community. Residential programs include six
group homes in the community and support
for individuals living in their own homes.
Since 1954, members of The Arc Gateway
have been proudly providing life-enhancing
programs that help people in need in the
community realize their dreams.
