hen it comes to capturing images from your most important moments—senior
year, your wedding day, baby’s fi rst year—it’s important to pick a photographer
whose high-quality images capture those moments in the right way for you and
your family. Short Stuff Photography aims to capture the magic of each special moment and
preserve it for a lifetime in the perfect photograph.
Behind the lens of Short Stuff Photography is Kishia Saffold. “Photography has always
been a hobby,” says Kishia, but she turned it into a business by taking portraits at Kiddie Care Learning Center, the early education and daycare
center she owns. “Initially I only took pictures for the center but as people found out I took pictures, I would get more and more requests,” she says.
At fi rst Kishia thought she would focus on newborn and children photography—“thus the name Short Stuff Photography,” she says—but expanded
her portfolio to include families, maternity, engagement and wedding photography. The
Short Stuff Photography name still worked, however. “I’m only 5’2”,” jokes Kishia.
Short Stuff Photography’s mission is to bring clients a different experience than other
photography sessions. “When I fi rst started taking pictures professionally I mainly
photographed friends,” says Kishia. “I discovered that they would tear themselves
apart—not loving their hair or makeup.” She added professional makeup and hair into
her packages. “All of a sudden they felt like a model!” she says. Kishia’s goal is to take
the best portrait you’ve ever seen of yourself. “I know what beautiful looks like and I can
fi nd it in every woman,” she says. “Even the men who almost always hate taking pictures
walk away from the experience excited and cooperative!” she adds.
Kishia also gets clients relaxed in front of the camera. “I let you do you in a way that’s
comfortable and natural feeling for you and your family,” she says. “Not all kids are
going to sit down and smile—but I will capture their personality. You and your husband
laugh and joke with one another? I’m going to capture that, too!” she says. “To see
the love and sheer blessing when photographing three- and four-generational family
members,” says Kishia, “that fl oats my boat all day!”
“I love to exceed my client’s expectations and go above and beyond what they had in
mind or what they’ve experienced in the past,” says Kishia. That literally means she will
go great lengths for the perfect shot. “I LOVE to travel!” she says. “I’ve done bridal
shows in Dothan, Atlanta, Mobile, Birmingham and Panama City, so just because you’re
getting married somewhere else doesn’t mean you can’t take me with you!”
Short Stuff Photography doesn’t just capture one moment in time for a client, it tells
your story. “I try and teach my clients that these images will outlive you. You can’t
frame a USB drive. A portrait is forever and a legacy our grandchildren and great-
grandchildren will have to remember us by.”
