Sacred Heart Guild to Host
Seventh Annual Emerald Coast
Duck Regatta
Save the date for this year’s seventh annual
Emerald Coast Duck Regatta on Saturday,
Oct.7 benefi ting Sacred Heart Hospital on the
Emerald Coast Volunteer Guild. The event
features fun activities for the whole family,
including face painters, Nonie’s Ark Animal
Encounters, and a scavenger hunt. The event
begins at 10 a.m. with the duck race beginning
at 1:00 p.m.
During the event approximately 3,000
ducks will race across the Lagoon at the
Village of Baytowne Wharf at Sandestin Golf
and Beach Resort. Prizes will be awarded
to the owners of the fi rst ducks to cross the
fi nish line, including a $5,000 fi rst place prize!
Additional prizes include Walt Disney World
passes, Southwest Airline passes and much
more.
Ducks are available for adoption at the
Sacred Heart Hospital Gift Shop in Miramar
Beach, online at

Baytowne Wharf the day of the event.

Simon Appoints New Assistant
Director of Marketing and Business
Development at Silver Sands
Premium Outlets
Simon, a global leader in premier shopping,
dining and entertainment destinations, today
announced Taylor Casal has been hired as
Assistant Director of Marketing and Business
Development at Silver Sands Premium
Outlets.
During her new role, Casal will work to
assist the director of marketing and business
development in creating, developing and
implementing the overall strategic marketing
direction of the shopping center in order to
meet corporate and property business and
marketing objectives. She is also responsible
for assisting with staff supervision of
customer service, sponsorships and business
development, budgeting and monthly
marketing analysis, along with maintaining
community, tenant and public relations.

Prior to working for Simon, Casal held

Two Special Olympics Florida
– Okaloosa County Athletes to
Compete in 2018 USA Games in
Seattle
Special Olympics Florida – Okaloosa
County announced that two local athletes
have been selected to compete in the 2018
Special Olympics USA Games in Seattle,
Washington.
On July 1-6, 2018 – more than 4,000 Special
Olympics athletes and coaches from all 50
states and the District of Columbia will gather
in Seattle to compete before tens of thousands
of spectators and volunteers. The 2018 USA
Games will showcase the limitless talents
of people with intellectual disabilities while
promoting the barrier-breaking power of
sport to promote inclusion and acceptance.
Among those 4,000 athletes and coaches
will be two Okaloosa County participants
as part of Team Florida. They are Jacob
Luttrell from Shalimar competing in Golf and
Harrison Mauldin from Crestview competing
in Athletics, 10K
Pamela Sparks, Okaloosa County Director,
said “I couldn’t be prouder of all of our
athletes in Okaloosa County but these two
athletes have exceeded my expectations.
Athlete Jacob Luttrell came within 6 ft.
from winning a Buick in our “Hole-in-One”
contest sponsored by Sam Taylor Buick
Cadillac at our SOFL – Okaloosa County
Cinco De Mayo Golf Scramble! Athlete
Harrison Mauldin was the fi rst Special
Olympics Florida athlete to compete in a
10K! Mauldin also was the fi rst athlete to
compete in both the 5K and 10K at ESPN
Wide World of Sports at State Games.”
The USA Games kick off on July 1, 2018
and will offer 14 Olympic-type sports.
