T

he Climax of the 26th annual
Emerald Coast Poker Run took
place on Saturday, August 11 at
the Emerald Coast Convention

Center.  The week’s event, which ran from
August 8 to the 12, culminated with a
successful party where guests wined and
dined, played poker, and bid on items to
raise funds for children’s charities and youth
organizations in Okaloosa County.  With
millions raised, this year all proceeds from
The Emerald Coast Boat Week and Poker
Run go to the recipient children’s charities of
the Emerald Coast Foundation.

This event was started 25 years ago to help

the youth of our local area have a chance at a
brighter future. As of last year, the Emerald
Coast Foundation raised over $2.5 million
dollars for the local kids. For the last 26 years,
the Emerald Coast Poker Run has been
making waves in Northwest Florida with the
showing of exquisite vessels and generous
people digging deep into their pockets to
ensure the kids of this area have a chance of
a better life.  Because the sponsors and the
local community have enjoyed this event
over the past 2 decades, the poker Run will
continue to come out stronger each year with
more participants and more money raised for
the community’s most valuable assets, the
children.
