T

he rolling greens of Burnt Pine Golf Club golf course in Sandestin was the setting for
the annual Chi Chi Miguel Golf Tournament. After golf, guests enjoyed a delectable
steak and lobster lunch at the country club and took part in live and silent auctions
fundraisers. The golf tournament, chaired by the husband and wife team of Jim and

Ann Barri, was a part of a series of events for the 11th Annual Chi Chi Miguel Throwdown,
founded by philanthropists Mike and Valerie Thompson. Presenting sponsor for the golf
tournament was the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa’s Seagar’s and Serenity by the Sea.

The Emeril Lagassse Foundation orchestrated the Throwdown with its popular BBQ

competition fi nalé featuring Chef Emeril Lagasse and acclaimed winemakers vying for the
perpetual trophy. This year, Chi Chi events raised $900,000 for local charities along the Emerald
Coast.

The Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center (ECCAC), with centers in Niceville and the

new Pierce Family Children’s Advocacy Center in Defuniak Springs, was the recipient of 100% of
the funds raised at the Chi Chi Miguel Golf Tournament.
