F
ood for Thought hosted the Destin
Chamber’s Business After Hours
networking event on March 23,
2017. Several fellow chamber
members were also on hand providing
cocktails and treats. The Big Red Truck
attended to offer samples to guests. Brotula’s
Seafood House & Steamer supplied the wine,
and Grayton Beer Company brought along
its craft brew.
This was a wonderful event showcasing
a favorite local charity and their mission
to area children. It all began with a single
mom of two seeing a need in the community
and start-up money from her church of
$300. Tiffanie Shelton, Food For Thought
Outreach Founder and President, has
gathered a Board of Directors from all
different occupations in the community and
draws over 100 volunteers to her charity.
Food For Thought is a 501(c)(3) not-
for-profi t organization based in Santa
Rosa Beach, FL, that provides backpacks
fi lled with healthy, easy to prepare food
for students who are dependent on free or
reduced school meals. Our goal is to support
a child’s development and educational
experience by bridging the gap between
school meals during weekends and holiday
breaks. Food For Thought has been working
to fi ght child hunger since 2010, and
currently serves 23 schools in Walton and
Okaloosa Counties, providing backpacks
for 1,700 students each week. For more
information, such as donation locations,
pantry items needed, and opportunities to
volunteer, please email info@fftfl .org.
The Destin Chamber Business After
Hours monthly event offers an end-of-the-
day networking opportunity to help area
business members meet new clients, promote
their business, and expand their network.
