VIP Destin at HarborWalk Village
T
he day began with temperatures in the 60s, the
perfect day to enjoy this year’s Emerald Coast
Parrothead Club’s Chili Cook-Off benefiting
the The Arc of the Emerald Coast. As guests
entered Harborwalk Village, their senses were assailed by
the different aromas of chili. From spicy to sweet, everyone
was sure to find a favorite of their own.
Hundreds of visitors and locals were in attendance to
sample the many different chilis. There were offerings of
organic chili, chili dogs, tequila spiced chili, chili with
beans and without. There was even a chicken waffle chili!
The talented Kickstand Jenny was on hand to entertain
the crowd with sounds from the 80s and some of their own
original music as well. Be sure to check them out.
The Arc of the Emerald Coast was presented a check for
$3000 from the event, showing once again how supportive
our community is. The Arc of the Emerald Coast provides
services that work to include all children and adults with
cognitive, intellectual and developmental disabilities in
Okaloosa, Walton and Santa Rosa Counties. They also
focus on abilities, respect, choices for all, and encourage
active citizenship and inclusion in the communities.
Congratulations to the winners of the chili cook-
off. There was a tie for 3rd place between Landshark’s
Pizza Co. and Harry T’s Lighthouse. 2nd place went to
Margaritaville-Destin, and 1st place was taken by Crab
Island Cantina. There was also an Amateur Division which
went to Legendary Marine and the People’s Choice winner
was Jackacuda’s Seafood & Sushi. With over 20 teams
competing, this was a spectacular event for a wonderful
cause. All of the teams worked hard and had a great time.
