estin’s 7th Annual Bayou, Bay & Beach 5K, 10K & 15K
was held on January 28 at Clement Taylor Park located
on Calhoun Avenue in Destin. All courses for this run are
routed entirely on neighborhood roads throughout Destin

and along the bay.
For this race the scoring was calculated using the Chronotrack B-tag
system, with Chronotrack verification points on the course for the
10K and 15K. Preliminary results were posted on the side of the Event
Timing Motor Home after the races were completed.
Aramark arrived early with coffee and hot chocolate available for the
runners during set up and registration. After the participants crossed the
finish line, there was plenty of water and Gatorade to re-hydrate with.
There was also plenty of hot food and cold beer to celebrate with Jim
N Nicks Bar-b-Que, Fudpucker’s spicy gumbo, fruit from Publix and
Whataburger and yes even delicious donuts from the Donut Hole.
A Packet Pickup Party was held at Fudpucker’s Down Under Bar the
night before the race, with a lively atmosphere and plenty of good food.
A portion of proceeds from the event benefit the Choctawhatchee
Basin Alliance, which restores and protects the Choctawhatchee Basin
Watershed.
Shane Moody, CEO & President of the Destin Chamber of Commerce
stated, “A special thanks goes out to our volunteers and sponsors, for
without them, this event would never happen.  Bayou, Bay and Beach
has become one of the most anticipated events we do. It’s fun, it’s
exciting, and it makes a great contribution to the economy.”
