he newly opened restaurant 
Slick Lips Seafood & Oyster 
House, located in Baytowne 
Wharf, was the venue for the 

May VIP Destin Magazine Cover Reveal 
Party.

The high-energy and fun-filled, after 

work event which took place on May 2 
was well attended by local business, some 
family members and friends of Laurie 

Hood of the local non-profit organization, 
Alaqua Animal Refuge. Laurie, who is 
the star of the new NAT GEO WILD hit 
series Animal PD, was totally unaware she 
was the cover subject for the May “Pets 
& People” issue of VIP Destin Magazine. 
Laurie thought she was just having dinner 
at Slick Lips with friends, Lea and Joe 
Capers, until she exited the elevator on the 
top floor of the restaurant and saw a poster 

size image of herself. Humbled, surprised, 
and stoked, Ms. Hood expressed her 
gratitude.

Guests enjoyed ahi tuna spoons, bacon 

wrapped dates, triggerfish tacos and tuna 
dip prepared by Chef Jay Ammons and his 
team. Attendees were also excited about the 
thousands of dollars in fabulous door prizes 
that were donated by many local businesses.
