Owner and Jewelry Designer, Renee Launiere, derives her

creative inspiration from memories of summers spent at the
beach, as well as international travel throughout her life. Bijoux
De Mer, meaning “jewels of the sea” in French, is a fi tting name
for her fi ne jewelry line.  After 10 years of successfully selling her
brand to fi ne jewelry stores all over the US and internationally,
Launiere recently opened her fl agship gallery at City Market
Bayside in Destin. Working primarily with pearls, she loves to
push the boundaries of conventional pearl designs. Her jewelry
can be described as bold and innovative; yet retain timeless
elegance. Every piece of jewelry found at Bijoux De Mer is
hand-crafted and designed exclusively by Launiere. She expertly
selects the fi nest materials for her designs, typically starting with
cultured Tahitian, South Sea, or funky baroque freshwater pearls
and incorporating rare, exotic gemstones set in precious metals.
Launiere offers personal design consultation, which includes
jewelry styling and custom creations for clients. The true
beauty of Launiere’s fi ne jewelry is captured in the quality and
uniqueness of each item that creatively combines elegance with a
fashion forward edge.

Jewelry as Fashion Through Time

Jewelry is as old as humankind and a vital part of human culture.

Adornment with jewelry dates back as long as history stretches
with different roles in various societies and cultures. Before we
had precious metals and the wonderful gemstones that we have
today, shells, stones and other organic material were used. Existing
examples of jewelry from 30,000 BC from burials reveal pieces
engraved with intricate geometric patterns and, later, zoomorphic
images, thus, jewelry was an early form of decorative art.

Thousands of years of advancement enabled jewelry to spread

from the exclusive art form of the rich to the common personal
items of adornment, which are today used by both men and women
around the world to express themselves in various fashionable
ways. Today, jewelry is a cornerstone of personal fashion and a
vibrant part of the fashion industry.

At McCaskill & Company we strive to assist our guest in

selecting pieces that fi t their personality and sense of style. Our
jewelry designers have a keen sense of what is highly fashionable
today, but also have designs that are considered more classic that
will stand the test of time. McCaskill & Company is host to some
of the most renowned jewelry designers and fi ne watches. We are
located between Destin and Sandestin.

Marisol and Tony Gullo, owners and

operators of Not Too Shabby Boutique
in Miramar Beach, specialize in building
custom furniture. This is where Marisol’s
passion for art and design began. “We were
heavily infl uenced by the French provincial
theme. We like to make our pieces look as
though they came out of a Chateau in 18th
century France. However, we’ve fused
in coastal colors and have come up with
what we like to call Coastal Chic,” says the
couple.

“Our pieces are constructed from solid

wood, which unfortunately is NOT what
new furniture is made of anymore,” says
Marisol. “When we build, we like to use
reclaimed woods and old architecturals,”

says Tony.  For example, regarding a
10 foot dining table in their showroom,
Marisol states, “This is built from a 200
year old door from Istanbul, Turkey.”

Not too Shabby by Marisol Gullo is

their main brand of furniture, but they
carry other amazing brands such as Bella
Notte Linens, Four Seasons Slipcover Sofas
& Chairs, Aidan Gray Lighting, Bliss,
Regina Andrews, and many more.

The store has become a destination

spot for visitors when they come to town.
“Since our workshop is here on property,
we put out about 5-10 new pieces a week,
so there is ALWAYS something new,” says
Marisol.
