rganizers at The Village of Baytowne Wharf recently
kicked off their 2nd annual Ice Skating Extravaganza.
The event, which is taking place through the winter
until February 3, 2018, is being held right in the heart

of Baytowne Wharf, in a 40ft by 60ft ice rink enclosed in a tent at the
events plaza.  International award winners and medalists, Jennifer
Don and Themi Leftheris, are the guest skating team for the event.
Don and Themi are also coaching beginners to national level skaters in
a mini class setting during this skating season. The sessions will teach
beginner skating techniques, such as leaning forward and backward
skating, two-foot glides, curves, and how to fall. For the slightly more

advanced recreational skater, guests can learn how to go faster on the
ice, one- foot glides, basic stops, edges, and even basic fundamentals
for a safer and more enjoyable time on the ice. Baytowne on Ice is
made possible through partnerships with area businesses, including
Community Broadcasters, Q92, Hwy 98, The Blaze, Wave 102, Ace
Hardware, Creative Repairs, and the merchants at The Village of
Baytowne Wharf.  Event Manager at Baytowne Wharf, Julie Stuckey,
stated “I’m excited for the kids and families who are enjoying the
event. Baytowne on Ice is a fun winter activity and they get to do it
here in Sandestin where we don’t get snow during our winters.”
