T

he Cultural Arts Alliance’s held its Flutterby Arts Festival on the weekend
of November 11 and 12. The Flutterby Festival is a two-day event fi lled with
arts, nature, science, and fun in celebration of the migration of the Monarch
butterfl y through South Walton.

The Festival featured live entertainment for the entire family, including genres from

music, theatre, and dance. Art activities were also a hit, like the butterfl y wing creation
station, craft-making, henna tattoos, and face-painting. Kids enjoyed the “Clay”
butterfl y learning center, carnival games, bounce houses, hula hoop contests, and a 25th
birthday party complete with cupcakes and a butterfl y parade at the end of each day.

Flutterby entertainment was provided by Mari Gleason and Matt Miller, 30A

Dancewave, Ohana Records, and The Emerald Coast Theatre Company Storybuilders.

Professional artists also exhibited and sold their work during the festival and offi cial

Flutterby merchandise featuring artwork by Grace Barnes, a 4th grader at Butler
Elementary School, was also available for purchase. Additionally, attendees participated
in “Paint Splatters for #ArtMatters,” a collaborative art project involving throwing
paint-fi lled balloons on a canvas to create a piece of art that will be used at CAA events
for photo ops and promotion of the #ArtMatters campaign.

The Cultural Arts Alliance (CAA) is a local arts agency that supports the arts through

leadership, advocacy, funding, programs, and education.  To become involved or to be
