VIP Destin at Vue on 30a

T

he NWFL Chapter of Florida Public Relations Association held their professional 
development meeting and January Luncheon at the Vue on 30a on January 15. 
The event featured Corey Dobridnia of the Walton County Sheriff’s Offi ce, who 
talked about “earning a currency of trust” by being transparent to the general 

public. Attendees had the opportunity to get fi rsthand information from the sheriff’s offi ce 
concerning the public, and how information from the offi ce is disbursed to the general public. 
Corey also talked about social media platforms that have assisted them in earning that “currency 
of trust” while highlighting the engagement each one produces, along with the media’s role 
in the evolving technological world and how WCSO controls the agency’s message. Helping 
participants gain a better understanding of how the agency utilizes social media to prevent 
and solve crime, engage the communities, and show the human side of law enforcement. As 
the Champagne Chapter of FPRA, M. Shaye Smith of NWFL FPRA gave Corey a bottle of 
champagne symbolizing the name of the chapter.
