Santa Rosa Golf & Beach Club
breaking ground on golf short
game area spring 2019
Santa Rosa Golf & Beach Club today
announced plans to break ground on a new
short game area at the golf club beginning
spring of 2019 with an anticipated opening
date of late summer. Selected by Golf
Inc. Magazine as one of the Top 10 most
innovative people in golf, Bill Bergin of
Bergin Golf Designs has been chosen as golf
architect for this highly anticipated project.
Short game facilities are one of the fastest
growing trends now seen at golf clubs around
the country, known to improve scoring and
playing abilities for golfers of all skill level.
The area will include a large green, two
bunkers and the ability to hit both pitch and
chip shots. This space will be the perfect place
for members to work on those important shots
around the green. Another added benefi t to
the short game area will be the benefi t it will
be to the beginner golfer and to our members
who have children who are in the beginning
stages of learning to play golf. On days where
members are not able to dedicate to a full
day on the course or members introducing
the game to their children want to start small
and grow, 60 minutes on the short game area
becomes more manageable. This type of
practice and training ultimately leads to more
prepared golfers on the course.

Simon Youth Foundation’s
Application Period for National
Scholarship Program Ends Next
Month
SYF’s Scholarship Program is part of the
national Simon Supports Education initiative.
Since the inception of Simon Youth
Foundation (SYF) in 1998, shoppers at Simon
Malls, Mills, and Premium Outlets have
been among SYF’s most ardent supporters,
contributing millions of dollars to support
SYF’s mission to help students graduate. As
a thank you to these loyal supporters, SYF is
proud to once again help a deserving graduating
senior living near Silver Sands Premium
Outlets pursue a college education.
Simon Youth Community Scholarships
are awarded in every community across the
country that is home to a Simon Mall, Mills, or
Premium Outlets center.
Scholarship recipients are eligible for a one-
time $1,500 scholarship, which may be applied
to tuition at an accredited college, university,
vocational or technical school. Students who
will be graduating high school in 2019 and live
in the community surrounding Silver Sands
Premium Outlets are eligible.
that was raffl ed off. 100% of proceeds from
the ticket sales, totaling $7,200, went to
Dog-Harmony. During the evening, Nancy
Bown, CPDT-KA and Founder of Dog-
Harmony, thanked Launiere, the guests,
and corporate sponsors of the charity event
for their donations and support of the non-
profi t. Bown described the objectives of the
Dog-Harmony: “Our mission is to prevent
the dogs from going into the shelters in the
fi rst place, and that means education and
spay/neuter program.” According to Bown,
if the community does its job in the next fi ve
years, the northwest Florida region will not
be faced with such high euthanasia rates and
dogs recycling through already overcrowded
animal shelters. The funds raised from the
“Diamond in the Ruff” event will support
Dog-Harmony’s education programs; lifelong
adoptions through ongoing training and
support; the build-out of the new training and
education facility in Santa Rosa Beach; and, of
course, the Dog-Harmony canine pack.
