A
blood drive, bone marrow/stem
cell drive and leukemia awareness
event like no other took place at
the Wyndham Gardens in Fort
Walton Beach on January 14. The event was
in honor of Jessica Young who was diagnosed
with leukemia a year ago. Paul Taylor, along
with some friends and colleagues in the
community put this event together to show
support for Jessica and bring awareness to the
disease. The goal of the event was to get 100
bone marrow/stem cell donors registered on
sight, donate blood for Sacred Heart, spread
awareness about leukemia, and raise enough
monies to begin a Leukemia Mask and Hat
Fund, organized through The Leukemia and
Lymphoma Society.
Food and Beverages were provided by
Asiago’s Skillet and Buffalo Rock Pepsi. A
photobooth was provided by Personal Touch
Photography, coffee was provided by Hill
and Brooks, orange desserts by Creative
Celebrations, and entertainment was
provided by Bzar Djs, Al Alvarado, Chris
Hayes, and Bryan Bludworth. The Orange
Bash on the Beach was intended to be a day
of celebration and giving a chance of hope
to Jessica Young, who is a dear friend of the
community. Even though Jessica is away
in Texas for her treatment, the event was a
success. She sent her love and appreciation
to everyone who participated and made the
event happen.
