ore than 3,000 Emerald Coast residents came together 
on October 15 at Uptown Station for the American 
Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 
walk and raised over $110,000 to help create a world 

free from the pain and suffering caused by breast cancer.

Since 1993, more than 12 million Making Strides supporters 

have raised more than $750 million nationwide. The 2016 walk was 
made possible in part by the generous support of Gulf Power, 21st 
Century Oncology, Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, Sacred Heart 
on the Emerald Coast, We Care Heating and Air, What-A-Burger, 
Visiting Angels, Buffalo’s Reef, Destin Commons, Allen Turner 
Chevrolet, Paradise Norte’, Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers, ZT 
Motors, Coastal Bank and Trust, Cumulus Media and WEAR-TV.
