What is your hometown, what brought you to The Emerald Coast,
and how long have you been here?

I was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama, where I practiced real
estate law with my father until just before he retired. My wife, Mary
Blake, is from Shalimar, so moving to the Emerald Coast was a natural
decision for us once we started having children. In 2001, we moved
to Destin, where I had a great opportunity to work with Chris Hart of
the Clark, Partington, Hart, Larry, Bond & Stackhouse law fi rm. It was
a great privilege to work with and learn from two very well-respected
real estate attorneys.

What led you to this profession?

My dad and granddad were attorneys in Montgomery, and I always
enjoyed spending time with my father. I believe those two things
ultimately led me to law school and following in their too-large-to-fi ll
footsteps.

What are a few of your proudest accomplishments?

Personally, I am very proud of my wife and three children. While not an
accomplishment I can take credit for, I am daily amazed at the grace
given to me for being their husband and father. Professionally, I am
proud of the strong foundation being established by Shoreline Title,
LLC and Barker Williams, PLLC in their fi rst two years of business. I have
unbelievable partners and great clients.

If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to
see play the lead role as you?

Well, I believe Bradley Cooper or Brad Pitt would be perfect to play the
role of Kirby Williams… However, if I am really honest, I think the late,
and great, Jimmy Stewart may be most appropriate. I may not have as
many friends as good ol’ George Bailey in “It’s a Wonderful Life,” but I’ve
truly been blessed with some amazing friendships over my 48 years.
As Clarence the angel told George, “Remember, no man is a failure
who has friends.”

What 3 things do you need to be successful in this job?

1.A good team.
2.An ability to see and understand diff erent perspectives.
3.A sense of urgency to do the right thing in a timely manner.

If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the
title should be?

Perhaps “The Great Adventure!” Many would probably look at my life
and career as boring. However, the path that God has led me and Mary
Blake along has truly been a great adventure. She is my amazing and
supportive best friend, and there is no one I’d rather share it with.
