G
overnment Street downtown in Pensacola was packed on
Friday, October 12 for the Eighth Ever Arrogant Steak
Cook-Off held at Seville Quarter. The streets were lined
with over twenty teams who competed for the title of
“Most Arrogant Steak Champions,” and to simply have a great time
cooking some of the best steaks while raising money for local non-profi t
organizations. The event was presented by Seville Rotary Club.
Cooking teams consisted of four team members. Male, female, and
co-ed teams were allowed. Each team registration included free steaks to
be distributed on date of event, provided by Winn-Dixie. The cook-off
was a fun, non-sanctioned tournament to raise funds for community
projects. Trophies, bragging rights, and several prizes were awarded,
which were determined by The People’s Choice Award.
The cook-off raised over $5,000 to donate to local charities. New
benefi ciaries this year included Food Raising Friends and First Tee.
Salz Studio provided a free photo booth station, Miko’s Sweet Treats
provided desserts and sides, and specialty portrait artist, Carter J was on
hand to commemorate the event with one of a kind caricature sketches;
and donated a portion of his earnings to the event as well. Henry
Chiropractic was a major sponsor of the event, and provided 6 sessions
to the silent auction. Other sponsors of the event included Rolling with
Madrina, Goldring Gulf, Komodo Grill, and Pensacola Hardware. The
Pensacola Fire Department also provided fi re extinguishers to keep
everyone safe.
