cenic Hills Country Club hosted the fi rst annual Pig Roast 
and Bourbon Tasting on Sunday, October 7.  Over ten 
premium bourbons were available to sample, which were 
presented by Southern Glazers.  Five whole pigs were 

procured from local farmers, and roasted; while Executive Chef Jesse 
Sproles was available to serve pork freshly cut from the pig.  Pulled 
pork, barbeque chicken, potato salad, baked beans, and an appetizer 
of walnut and grape salad were also served buffet style.  Chef Jesse 
created four one-of-a-kind sauces for the roast, including a white 

Alabama horseradish, mustard based, classic barbeque, and sweet 
barbeque. 

Entertainment for the evening was provided by Kenny and Rod, 

who are known for their performances at venues such as the Grand 
Marlin and Hemmingway’s. The pig roast was open to all members, 
and to non-members for an additional fee.  The event provided 
a family friendly atmosphere offering a bounce house, games, a 
large area for children to play tag, and outside seating to enjoy the 
gorgeous weather.
