T
he Woodlands Medical Specialists center on Davis Hwy hosted a very special
“Ladies Night Out” event on Thursday, September 20. The center wanted to give
women an opportunity to participate in a a few very special services, including
free massages and mini manicures provided by Fortis College, and a photobooth
to commemorate the event. The staff at Woodlands encouraged guests to attend new tours
of the facility, with an introduction to their advanced technology screenings, and potential to
catch cancer early by scheduling an appointment with one of their specially trained physicians.
The Keeping Abreast Foundation was on hand to discuss the resources and options available
to women with breast cancer and “Knitted Knockers” founders Mary Green and Veronica
Siefert were available to offer an alternative to artifi cial silicone breast enhancers, by knitting a
hypoallergenic, fi berfi ll stuffed “knocker.”
The unique group of Radiology Physicians engaged the room by providing information about
ongoing breast health treatment, depression and physical health screenings, and preventative
health care. Dr. Hillary Hultstrand touched on maintaining weight goals, balancing sugar,
blood pressure, and preventative screenings, which can help discover borderline health issues
and begin treatment before the issues cause harm. Metabolic screenings can track HDL/LDL
levels and triglycerides, to detect and pinpoint early traces of metabolic conditions. Their newest
piece of technology is the “Trilogy Liner Accelerator,” which is a specialized machine that
focuses on cancer patients who need radiation and therapy treatment.
