Jesse Sproles was born
and raised in Baldwin
County, Alabama and
has lived in Pensacola for
12 years. During college
Jesse had an opportunity
to pursue a career in the
marine industry working
offshore on a tugboat. This
allowed Jesse to begin his
love for the culinary arts
because the easiest way
to keep a crew happy is
to feed them well. After a
few years, Jesse decided
to leave this career path to pursue his love of food and worked in
restaurants in Orange Beach and New England for a few years where
he honed his culinary knowledge.
Jesse’s love for Gulf Coast cuisine brought him to Pensacola where
he has worked and raised his family ever since. He got his start in
Pensacola at Crème Coffee and Baking Company and then moved
on to Portofi no Island Resort where he quickly ascended to Chef de
Cuisine under the guidance of mentor and friend Rob Theriot, who
is now very involved in the booming restaurant scene in Washington,
DC. Since leaving Portofi no he has worked at many area golf courses
as the Executive Chef including Tiger Point and The Club at Hidden
Creek and now is the Executive Chef at Scenic Hills Country Club.
Jesse describes his culinary style as very straightforward and rooted
in ingredients and dishes found all along the coastal Southeast with
classic French techniques.
The Coffee Cup Restaurant has been serving amazing breakfast
and lunch since 1945. David Hambrick, owner of Jaco’s Bayfront
Bar & Grille, purchased the Coffee Cup with General Manager,
Jon Coffey, in March 2018, but the tradition is here to stay. They
have worked together for fi ve years and both know the importance
of great customer service, hard work, and genuine smiles. They
also know they have the opportunity to keep history going with this
Pensacola landmark restaurant. The original cast iron table bases,
solid nickel bar stools, griddle grills, and Americanwear coffee urns
are still what are used at the Coffee Cup today. With all seating in
one room, you have the opportunity to interact with everyone and
really get a sense of who and what Pensacola has to offer. Come in
and enjoy Southern comfort food, diner favorites, and the Coffee
Cup’s famous grits!
