O
ver 350 runners came out to the 2nd Annual CMSAF James C. Binnicker
Memorial 9K Run presented by Eglin Federal Credit Union and raised
$20,000 for the Air Force Enlisted Village. Runners left the Bob Hope
Village Commons at 7:00 AM Saturday, August 27 and ran throughout
the village campus and neighboring Poquito Bayou in Shalimar.
A post-race party and awards celebration was held immediately following the race
and awards were given out by EFCU Pres./CEO Jerry Williams, AFEV Pres./CEO
Brooke McLean, and James Binnicker, son of the late 9th CMSAF James C. Binnicker.
The race is named in honor of the late 9th Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force
James C. Binnicker. Binnicker served as Air Force Enlisted Village CEO from 2000
to 2015. He had a vision of providing world-class, yet affordable, homes for surviving
spouses of retired enlisted airmen. Under Binnicker’s leadership, the Air Force
Enlisted Village built Hawthorn House; a 64 unit assisted living and memory support
residence as well as 96 modern independent living apartments as Bob Hope Village 5.
