T

he sun is setting on another
fabulous summer here on the
Emerald Coast. The weather is
starting to cool down and it’s time

for everyone’s favorite time of the year…
football season! Gone are the days of
throwing on your team’s jersey or a t-shirt
in your school colors and heading to the
game. Football fashion has exploded
and the options are now endless. You can
be casual and laid back or preppy and
dressed up. Lots of guys can be seen all
over campuses throughout the south in
classic fishing shirts. Try out a plaid in your
school’s color palette for a preppy look
that can’t be beat. You can dress it down
paired with jeans and leather sandals or
polish the look a bit tucked in with a belt
and loafers. These are wardrobe staples
for any southern football fan that you
can incorporate wonderfully with your

existing clothes all through the fall. “Fall
fashion is all about having fun and being
comfortable. By adding comfortable key
pieces in your school colors you can show
your team spirit with items that you can use
for everyday wear as well,” said Aja Heck,
Assistant Director of Retail Operations at
Sandestin Family Retail Shops.

As football season approaches you can

almost hear the crowds roar and smell
the fresh cut grass. Just because you are
bundled up on the sidelines cheering
on your favorite team doesn’t mean you
can’t look fashionable! Women’s styles for
game day have really evolved. While a cozy
team hoodie and ripped denim always
looks cute, there are many more posh
outfits available to wear when sitting in the
stands. Many southern sweethearts choose
to dress it up a little with a simple shift
dress representing their school spirit. This
look is perfect with a cute cardigan sweater
and flat riding boots for chillier weather
or cute team sandals for those hot days.
This is a classic and versatile look that is
popular for many ages.

Fashion is another way to show off

your state pride. State Traditions T-shirts
are a great option for a casual tailgating
outfit or for tossing around the ball with
your buddies. State pride is also making
an appearance in the accessory game.
Jill Massey State necklaces are simply
adorable. Available in a variety of metals
and designs these beauties are the perfect
addition to your game day ensemble and
look amazing layered if you happen to
have love for more than one state. The
ever-popular croakies are a southern guy’s
staple and are a great way to show off
your school spirit in an unexpected way
on the field or even at the beach. While

the girls are definitely dominating the
football fashion area with headbands,
bows, jewelry, handbags and more, guys
have stepped up their game with themed
ties for a dressier look and are guaranteed
to always look sharp in a classic baseball
hat with their school emblem emblazoned
on the front. Fall and football go hand
and hand and now fashion has joined
as a player on the scene. Whether you
are tailgating before the big game or
relaxing watching the excitement at home
with snacks on the couch, make sure you
are sporting this season’s latest football
fashions and you’ll be sure to stand out
from the crowd.
