T

he Northwest Florida Coast chapter of the
Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA)
is proud to host a chapter of the oldest public
relations association in the United States.

FPRA is a statewide organization of more than 1,400
public relations professionals dedicated to advancing
the profession of public relations and enhancing the
professional development of its members.

Outgoing president Whitney Lee spearheaded the

chapter’s annual installation ceremony to swear in
the 2016-2017 board of directors at the Royal Palm
Grille in Surfside. The event recognized a number of
award recipients and did their traditional “passing of
the gavel” amongst the previous presidents, ending
with handing the gavel to incoming president, Megan
Harrison.

Steve and Joan Carter were named the FPRA’s

prestigious Persons of the Year; Sarah Brazwell and Erin
Igram received the President’s Award; and Julie Stuckey
Recognition was given to three local PR professionals
who recently attended the annual state conference in
Tampa and took home distinctive state-wide honors.
Kay Phelan was selected to receive the Doris Fleischman
Unsung Hero award for her many years of work on the
board of the local FPRA chapter. Also taking home state
level FPRA honors were Tracy Louthain (APR, CPRC),
TLC Communications, in the community service
category for her Eggs on the Beach EggFest event; and
Laura Holloway, The Storyteller Agency, for her Alaqua
Animal Refuge video creating awareness for the non-
profit organization.

The Northwest Florida FPRA chapter includes all

levels of professional communicators, from students to
new graduates to seasoned professionals. This strong
network comes together for support and education
through monthly membership meetings, professional
development seminars and special events. For more
